Revlon Fire & Ice
Challenge: For this team project, we were tasked with creating a Revlon perfume advertisement that challenged gender stereotypes. The challenge was to visually represent the duality of the fragrance while emphasizing equality. We decided to feature two models with similar dark curly hair, dressed in white blouses, to highlight their commonality. By using cooler tones on one model to represent ice and warmer tones on the other to represent fire, we had to balance both the product’s identity and the message of inclusivity.
Solution: The final advertisement successfully conveyed the theme of balance and equality through the mirror and the models’ positioning, which emphasized their connection. The use of fluorescent colors on the perfume bottle highlighted Revlon’s innovation and boldness. This project deepened our understanding of how creativity can challenge societal norms and how visuals can reflect cultural shifts. Collaborating as a team showed us the importance of combining diverse perspectives to create a powerful and modern message that redefined Revlon’s identity.
